Classic corrosion protection for steel parts through electrolytic zinc coating. Robust, economical, long-lasting.

Fritz Kamm AG is one of Switzerland's leading electroplating companies. Our guiding principle — quality and on-time delivery — defines every step of the process.

Fritz Kamm AG is among Switzerland's leading electroplating companies. In Mels we finish parts in steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous metals using eleven proven processes — from electrogalvanizing to stainless-steel electropolishing.
Our guiding principle "quality and on-time delivery" defines everything: every process step, every batch, every shipment. We operate to Swiss Safety Center certified standards (ISO 9001 / ISO 14001) and continuously reduce CO₂ emissions.
We additionally offer technical support, surface-quality inspection, marking and logistics. Our specialists are available to you personally at any time.
From classic electrogalvanizing to stainless-steel electropolishing — every process is executed and documented in Mels to Swiss Safety Center standards. Depending on volume and capacity, we route your order appropriately and advise on further options.

02Ideal for high volumes of small and medium-sized parts — uniform zinc coating using a rotating barrel process.
03Premium corrosion protection with superior durability — standard for automotive and tier-supplier applications.
04Phosphate layer for improved friction and wear properties — an ideal base coat for subsequent finishes.
05Cleaning and activation of stainless-steel surfaces — removing heat tint and scale for a bright, passive finish.
06Electrochemical smoothing of stainless steel. A cleanroom-grade, hygienic, corrosion-resistant high-gloss finish.
07Mechanical surface treatment — from satin finishes to decorative texturing of stainless steel and non-ferrous metals.
08Deep-black conversion coating on steel. Subtle appearance with minimal build-up — both functional and aesthetic.
09Electrolytic gold finishing for function and aesthetics — from thin contact layers to decorative high-gloss plating.
10Electroless nickel plating with uniform thickness on complex geometries. Hard, corrosion-resistant, precise.
11Classic electrolytic nickel plating — decorative, corrosion-inhibiting and a foundation for further finishes.

Coating thickness, corrosion protection, appearance, series capability — all key values side by side. For fast, well-founded engineering decisions.
What our customers value about Fritz Kamm AG isn't a tagline — it's the daily discipline with which we handle every part, hit every deadline and document every batch.
Our guiding principle since day one. Everything else takes second place — from the first bath to the shipment.
We operate to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 — documented, audited and continuously improved.
We actively reduce CO₂ emissions and continuously evolve our processes — Swiss responsibility in practice.
Since 2024 all 11 finishing processes have been consolidated at our Mels site — short distances, one point of contact, continuous quality assurance across every process step.
Questions about a process or about logistics? Our specialists are directly available — by phone or on-site.
Our supply paths are planned with care and reach from regional to international — including transport and value-added services.
Our finishes are applied to parts that carry responsibility every day — in Switzerland and far beyond — from the smallest connector to architecturally visible stainless-steel surfaces.
Functional and corrosion protection for components in drives, hydraulics and production equipment.
Zinc-nickel and phosphated surfaces for parts that endure millions of load cycles every day.
Stainless-steel finishing, ground and electropolished surfaces for visible structures and façades.
Cleanroom-grade, hygienic and durable surfaces for food, pharma and process plant engineering.
Five steps. Clearly documented. Identical for every order — so that quality and on-time delivery aren't promises, but measurable outcomes.

What began in 1968 in Mels as a family business is today one of Switzerland's established names for metal finishing. A brief journey through the stages that have shaped Fritz Kamm AG.
Electroplating is chemistry and energy. For years we've been systematically working to use both efficiently — and we publish the results.

Whether procurement, R&D or engineering — the twelve most common metal-finishing questions in one compact overview. Click a question to reveal the answer.
A corrosion test per DIN EN ISO 9227 in which parts are exposed to an aggressive salt-mist atmosphere. The hours to first corrosion (e.g. 240 h, 720 h, 1500 h) serve as a benchmark for comparing different finishes.
Restoring the natural chromium-oxide protective layer on the stainless-steel surface. After welding, grinding or pickling the surface is temporarily reactive — passivation re-seals it against corrosion.
The arithmetic mean roughness describes surface roughness in micrometres. The lower Ra, the smoother the surface. Example: stainless-steel electropolishing reaches Ra ≤ 0.4 µm — cleanroom-grade hygiene class.
Zinc plating is the economical standard with 240–720 h of salt-spray protection. Zinc-nickel is an alloy coating with significantly higher corrosion protection (720–1500+ h) and is the OEM standard in automotive applications.
Zinc-manganese phosphate creates a crystalline conversion layer on steel that reduces friction and wear. It also serves as an ideal base coat for subsequent paints or oils.
Small parts (e.g. screws, bolts, clips) are plated in a rotating, perforated barrel. It's the most economical method for high volumes of smaller parts with uniform coating distribution.
Diamond-like carbon — an ultra-hard, thin carbon coating (PVD process) for highly stressed tools and friction surfaces. (DLC is not part of Fritz Kamm AG's current process portfolio.)
Zinc plating: 5–25 µm · Zinc-nickel: 5–15 µm · Black oxide: 1–2 µm · Electroless nickel: 5–50 µm · Gold plating: 0.1–25 µm. The optimal thickness for your geometry and requirement is specified in the quote.
A chemical cleaning of stainless-steel surfaces that removes heat tint and scale after welding or heat processing. The surface becomes passive and corrosion-resistant.
Implants and surgical instruments in 316L stainless steel are electropolished (Ra ≤ 0.4 µm) to achieve a bio-inert, sterilisable high-gloss surface — a prerequisite for CE-compliant medical devices.
Yes — electroless nickel is the standard solution for aluminium, since the layer deposits without current and uniformly even on complex geometries. For conductive functional surfaces a gold layer can be added.
Heavy metals and process chemicals are treated in closed loops. Fritz Kamm AG is ISO 14001 certified — the environmental management system is documented and monitored by the authorities.
